Founded in 1999 and with headquarters in Curitiba, the Design Center Paraná is a non-profit organization. Its mission is to contribute to the sustainable development and excellence of the Brazilian Industry through research and dissemination of design and new knowledge.
A true pioneer, it was the first design center instituted in Brazil and also the firsts to guide its work by the needs of the entrepreneurial community. On account of its unprecedented work and work quality, it is recognized by Science and Technology Ministry Studies and Projects Financing Agency (Finep) as a national standard in design management..
By supporting entrepreneurs in the development of innovative and competitive products, the Design Center Paraná works for the construction of a design culture in Brazil. Its activities comprise three types of service: design intelligence; development of design actions and organization of educational and qualification events. Activities in those three areas are guided by the following guidelines:
| 1. |
Work based on demand. |
| |
The focus is to work based on the needs of companies interested in developing or reshaping products through the usage of design. |
| |
|
| 2. |
Execute projects externaly only. |
| |
The idea is not to compete with design offices already present on the market, but to offer companies and interested institutions advisory support - from design project formulation to hiring personnel and management of proposal development. |
| |
|
| 3. |
Bring international references to Brazil. |
| |
The goal is to identify the most interesting design educational and qualification experiences in the world to promote exchange and promote a contact network. |
