Open conversation: the Consumer in the City of Curitiba
At the event Open Conversation of the Federation of the Industries of the State of Paraná (FIEP), the Design Center organized the lecture “Sustainability: an Analysis of the Consumer Profile in the City of Curitiba” on September 28th 2009. The lecture was held by Prof. Dr. Martina Schäfer, Masters in Sociology and Environmental Engineering from the Technical University of Berlin, and took place on the premises of the Industry University (Unindus). |

I Competing with Design
The Paraná Design Center participated in the 1st edition of the Competing with Design, which took place in São Paulo/SP on June 30th 2009. The entity introduced the Design & Excellence Brazil, a program coordinated by the Paraná Design Center. The initiative’s organization also had the signature of the Brazilian Association of Equipment and Machinery (ABIMAQ) and the Equipment and Machinery Technological Research and Development Institute (IPDMAQ). |

50th Interzum 2009
From May 13th to 16th 2009, the city of Cologne, Germany, hosted the 50th edition of the Interzum, one of the most important furniture suppliers and interior design industry fairs in the world. As a guest, the Paraná Design Center held two lectures with the titles “Design from Brazil – Origins, Inspirations, Perspective” and “Brazilian Design – Inspired by Nature”. Both lectures presented a discussion on the use of Brazilian natural fibers, such as the golden tall grass, seeds, wood and natural fibers. Besides, they approached the need for a closer relationship between the design process and the sustainability concept. |

I Sustainable Design Symposium of Paraná
Perspectives for sustainable design from the business point-of-view and with focus on internationally award-winning companies were the topic of the lecture held by the Paraná Design Center at the I Sustainable Design Symposium of Paraná. 4th Science, Technology and Society Meeting
Promoted by the Brazilian Society for the Progress of Science (SBPC), the 4th Science, Technology and Society Meeting included in its program a lecture by the Paraná Design Center which was focused on the work this entity develops. Besides, the Paraná Design Center participated in a discussion panel on design and professional practices. The event took place on November 28th 2008 at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) in Porto Alegre. |

6th North-Northeast Meeting of Design Students - R Design
João Pessoa, the capital city of the state of Paraíba, hosted the 6th North-Northeast Meeting of Design Students – R Design, where the Design Center held, on November 28th 2008, the lecture “Design Dissemination Strategies in Brazil”, in which the Design Center’s trajectory was introduced. Besides, it also participated in a discussion panel on the designer’s field of work. |

The Paraná Design Center was present at the 3rd Design Seminar of the State of Espírito Santo, which took place on October 22nd 2008 in Vitória/ES. The entity promoted a lecture with the topic Design for Businesses, in which the Design Center’s institutional case was presented. |

2008 Abipti Congress
The Design Center presented two articles at the 2008 edition of the Brazilian Association of Technological Research Institutions (Abipti) Congress, which took place from June 4th to 6th in Campina Grande/PB. The first one described the programs Paraná Creation of 2002 and 2005, which had the mission of stimulating entrepreneurs to experiment design as a competitiveness improvement tool. The second article reported on the experience with the Design Center Job Line, a social project created in 2001 to support micro-entrepreneurs selected by Curitiba’s mayor’s office with free-of-charge design support by students under the guidance of design professors and professionals of the Paraná Design Center. |

Design.exe 2008
The Paraná Design Center was present at the Design.exe 2008, which took place from May 12th to 16th in Londrina/PR. The event is promoted annually by the Industrial Design department of the North Paraná University (Unopar). The entity held a lecture on the DesignBrasil Network and the Design Network of Paraná, both initiatives coordinated by the Design Center. |

Design as Strategy Conference - Design Policies and Innovation for Competition
On May 22 and 23 2007, the Design Center Paraná was present to the Design as Strategy Conference - Policies in Design and Innovation for Competition. The event was part of the program of the IX Expoconstrucción Expodiseño, an international fair taking place in Bogotá, Colombia, and was directed to local industry, college professors, students and design professionals.
The entity presented a lecture on the case "Design Center" which brought a short institutional introduction, approached its methodology and showed the main projects. Superintendant director Geraldo Pougy also coordinated a discussion panel with the participation of Diego Garcia-Reyes, manager of projects such as the first Colombian Design Lab; Jorge Montaña, coordinator of the Red Latino-americana de Diseño; Daniel Câmara, director of the Design Movelsul Exhibit; Mauricio Molina, sponsoring director of the Bogotá's Chamber of Commerce, and Alvaro Diaz, founder of the Bee Design Inc agency in Montreal, Canada. |

7th P&D - Brazilian Congress on Design Research and Development
The Design Center Paraná's team participated actively on the activities of the 7th P&D - Brazilian Congress on Design Research and Development, which took place in Curitiba (PR) from August 9-11 2006. Besides having a stand open for visitors, the Design Center also presented a scientific article on the results of the Paraná Creation (Criação Paraná) program. The entity also promoted, in partnership with the magazine abcDesign and the Design course of Universidade Positivo, a lecture by professor Ari Rocha which composed the Franja, an event running in parallel with the 7th P&D. Rocha spoke about automotive design in Brazil and history as a strategic tool for the project. |

The Contestado's University Furniture and Interior Design Technology Course promoted in 2005 the 1st Furniture Trends seminar. The event took place from November 16-18 at the Excellence Center in the city of Rio Negrinho (SC). Sebrae Workshop on Technology and Innovation
Between May and June 2005, the Brazilian Micro and Small Businesses Support Service (Sebrae) promoted in five Brazilian cities the Sebrae Workshop on Technology and Innovation. The event had the goal of disseminating information in the areas of technology and innovation to managers, technicians and project leaders. The Design Center Paraná participated with lectures on the Paraná's Design Network (RPrD). |

On May 25 and 26 2004, representatives of design organization everywhere in the world gathered at the International Workshop on Design Support in Cardiff (Wales) to discuss the support offered to small and mid-sized companies in their design demands. 1st Development, Culture and Market & Innovation and Design Seminar of Mato Grosso
Craftsmanship, architecture, weaving, jewelry, furniture and design were some of the topics approached at the 1st Development, Culture and Market & Innovation and Design Seminar of Mato Grosso. The event took place in Cuiabá (MT) on November 27-28 2003 and gathered representatives of a variety of productive sectors in the state. The lecture held by the Design Center Paraná had the title "Competitive Edge in the Furniture Market" and dealt with the development of new products, identity, regional aspects and positioning in a globalized economy. The Center also provided consulting for local companies through support clinics. |

University Business Integration Seminar
The Design Center Paraná participated on October 29th 2003 on the University Business Integration Seminar, in São Paulo (SP), which gathered many national institutions working on the topic. The lecture held by the Center presented the Employment Program (Linhão do Emprego), a project coordinated by the institution in which college students, supervised by teachers, dealt with design demands from micro entrepreneurs being supported by Curitiba's City Hall. |
