National company with facilities in the city of São José dos Pinhais (PR), Freso specializes in the manufacture of toys and children equipment in polyethylene (robust and non-toxic plastic) using remolding processes. In 1999, the Design Center Paraná managed the development of a new collection for Freso. The idea was to create a line entirely designed and manufactured in Brazil, and with quality requirements equivalent to those of imported products.
The 2000 Collection comprises six products: play tunnel and seesaw for playground, trunk, stool, shelf and toy organizer for children's furniture. Its production began with an ideas workshop and a discussion on Freso's position on the market. The Design Center Paraná delivered the company the results in a report which constituted the base for the 2000 Collection
To speed up production, guarantee delivery and create articulation with the market, the products were divided in two development batches: the design office Inove Design took on the children's furniture pieces and playground toys were assigned to PA+C Design. Both were selected by Freso, which, with the support of the Design Center Paraná, requested a variety of cost estimates and evaluated those most adequate to the job's preliminary briefing.
After the elaboration of a time chart, the Center and the design offices started executing the project for the 2000 Collection. Starting point was the evaluation of similar products and trends in the sector, and so guidelines were established for the elaboration of the new line, such as use of a reduced number of parts; interchangeability with other products of the manufacturer; easy assembly; visual cleanness; exploration of textures, reliefs and colors; versatility.
The 2000 Collection was developed with resources from the Micro and Small Businesses Technological Support Program (Patme), created by the Science and Technology Ministry Studies and Projects Financing Agency (Finep) and made available by the Brazilian Micro and Small Businesses Support Program (Sebrae). The project for gathering resources was the responsibility of the Information Technology Center (Niet) under the Paraná's Technology Institute (Tecpar). |
