Funcional Móveis para Escritório have their facilities in the city of São José dos Pinhais (PR), two stores in the capital city Curitiba and representatives in other places of the country. In 2000, the company started planning the launching of a new product line for 2002 and, with this proposal, decided to invest in design.

Hired to support Funcional in the development of their collection, the Design Center Paraná started their work with the elaboration of a preliminary work briefing, which was used as the base to request cost estimates from design offices. After this cost identification, a notebook was delivered to Funcional with all the estimates received. After evaluating them, the company decided to contract PA+C Design for the elaboration of their new furniture line.

After contract signature with the office, the Design Center Paraná promoted in 2001 an ideas workshop which gathered both company employees and representatives of PA+C Design. Working in groups, participants could count on the support of sketch artists to give shape to the proposals arising from the workshop. As a result of this initiative, Funcional received an ideas notebook including the best suggestions resulting from the event.

After defining the products, the Design Center Paraná took on all the project management for the collection launched in 2002.
